Attorneys and Technology.... NOT

I've decided to start a new category here called Attorneys and Technology... NOT. This is an exercise in mental health for me. I am constantly amazed at how behind the times attorneys are when it comes to technology. Oh, I don't understand how to program a thing either. I'm talking about USING technology.

So now, rather than running in and venting to my poor husband, I'm going to post it here.

Attorneys and Technology... NOT post #1. I've been trying to send a fax to a law firm since yesterday evening. It keeps on getting bounced for "poor line quality." I've had this problem with faxing to this law firm before, although they get faxes from others all the time. Fair enough - our electronic impulses aren't talking to theirs.

So I say "I'll scan it and email it to you." I hadn't offered this before because, well because I know that except for business law firms who at least use email, many firms doing other types of law are not really big on this new fangled email thing. But yes, he said they have an email address - one for the whole firm. And at least it wasn't at yahoo.

But, he says, "I don't know if the court will accept it." Now the court was going to accept the faxed signature that I was trying to send to him. So they would know if he got it by email or fax... how? In fact I get my faxes by email - have done so for years. But he seriously said he didn't know if the court would accept it.

Ya gotta love an industry that so staunchly defends the old ways, don't you?
