To PC or not to PC
I really got a kick out of yesterday's Cathy Cartoon which picks at excessive PCness. And also loved the line in Shark where James Woods' Shark character, speaking of a hollywood star says "Yeah, they're all liberals, till you walk on their beach."
I was wondered whether the cartoon, and quote, as well as a few other mass media "lines" I've seen or heard might indicate a movement away from what I think is, in fact, excessive PCness and a total loss of sense of humor. I sure hope the wave has crested.
Seeing things from a lawyers point of view, I tend to blame the amulance chasers PI attorneys trial lawyers Plaintiffs' attorneys civil justice attorneys and their law suit scavaging with at least some of the PCness which makes people afraid to tell jokes and walk around on egg shells. But the public is also at fault because the public makes up those juries that have given large awards to plaintiffs for what used be "get over it" type gaffs, jokes and accidents.
So seeing elements of pop culture like TV shows and cartoons start poking fun at the inherent victim mentality is encouraging.
