House Holds Hearings on Patenting Tax Advice

First IBM patented (then withdrew when the laughter overwhelmed them) the concept of putting your seat number on a bathroom wait list on plane flights.

Now, companies and individuals have been patenting tax advice, which under the US Patent and Trademark Office's current rules for business process patents, can be done. And that really does belong in our "Department of Thats Just Not Right."

But the House gets a the Slipperati "hey, thanks for a good idea" award for holding hearings to look into the idea that someone can patent how to comply with Federal tax law.
